💭 FCL Weekly Thought: 06/27/25

Summer lacrosse self-evaluation. Men's week highlights. 2028s that stood out.

Welcome back for another Weekly Thought.

We just wrapped up our Men’s 2028 + 2029 event and are currently on Day 2 of our Men’s and Women’s summer camp!

This week’s thought is on self-evaluation. Summer has flown by, and July is almost here, so with the summer circuit winding down, it’s time to look back on the summer and ask some questions to yourself.

Let’s get into it. Happy Friday ☕️,
Matt & Deemer

💭 WEEKLY THOUGHT
🏆 Self Evaluation & Reflection

Summer lacrosse is a marathon. June just flew by, and now we look to a busy month of July. As a player and parent, this is a great time for some self evaluation and reflection.

At this point in the summer, most players have gone to at least one club tournament and at least one individual showcase. As you head into July, here are four questions to ask yourself.

  • What have I been doing well?

  • What have I struggled with?

  • How do I stack up against my peers?

  • What is something I can learn from my peers?

All of these questions are important, but the last one really stands out. Summer lacrosse is a great time to get outside of your town or state and compete against players across the country. One of the best things we can do as athletes is analyze and pick up on what successful things our peers are doing, and figure out how to incorporate it into our games. This requires both humility and an eagerness to learn, but will prove to be very beneficial.

Let’s have a strong July!

Best,
Coach Class and Coach Dunn

🔥 RECRUITING COVERAGE

In this week’s recruiting section, we are highlighting some 2028 athletes who just finished BIC 2028 Women’s.

Check out the full BIC Women’s 2028 Standouts and BIC Women’s 2029 Standouts from June 16-17.

Maura Beckwith | 2028 | Attack| Liverpool | Monster
Beckwith led her squad on the offensive end. She’s a powerful LH attacker with a great outside shot. Coaches loved how she rides her. She had a quick first step and consistently drew slides. As she tightens up her risk/reward of when to feed, she will continue to rise.

Check out her IWLCA profile here.

Murphy Holden| 2028 | Goalie | Pingree | Laxachusetts

Standing at 6 ft 2, Holden showed her athleticism in the goal. She’s a great stopper, comfortable outside the crease and had multiple GB’s and interceptions. She was seasoned in the clear, starting a few transition opportunities that led to goals. Coaches noted she was a great communicator on and off the field. She uses angles well as the ball is moving and has great presence in cage. She stole a few point blank. Holden will make a run for top keeper in the class for coming years.

Check out her IWLCA profile here.

Luca Diehl | 2028 | Midfield | West Forsyth | Eagle Stix

Diehl is a fantastic athlete who would have fit right in with the 2027 class. She’s strong, athletic and goes hard to goal. She has the abiilityt to take over the game because she can draw a slide every time she dodges. As her decision making progresses, she will be a force for years to come in the 2028 class.

Check out her IWLCA profile here.
